House of May: Designing Without Limits
House of May
Is there a design you’ve created that has a special story behind it?
You know that saying “ask for forgiveness, not permission”? Well… that’s exactly what happened with my yellow-grouted tiles wallpaper. It’s bold. It’s bright. It’s very dairy. So instead of going through the whole “do you like it?” conversation, I just… ordered it. And started wallpapering the living room while my husband was at work. By the time he came home, I was almost done, brush in one hand, guilty smile in the other. Luckily, he actually loved it. (phew) Moral of the story? Trust your gut! (and your grout).
How do you want people to feel when they use your designs in their homes?
Like they just opened a window! Even if it’s raining outside. I want my designs to feel like a breath of fresh air for your walls. A quiet rebellion against beige, sameness, and playing it safe. They’re there to energize, uplift, and spark a little curiosity. I want them to feel like you found something that feels like you.
What’s one wallpaper design you’d love to create but haven’t yet?
A wallpaper that’s basically a punch in the face! In the best way. Something that makes you stop mid-scroll and go, wait… can I put that in my hallway? (Answer: yes, yes you can.)
