Happy Mattic Peel&Stick is our matte non-woven wallpaper with a self-adhesive back, so you hang it without paste. It is printed to your wall's exact size, delivered in numbered 50 cm panels, and you can reposition the panels while you hang them. Will it work on my wall?
Peel&Stick needs a surface its adhesive can grip. If you can answer yes to all five, you are good to go.
- 1 Is the wall smooth? Run your hand over it: no orange peel, woodchip or rough plaster.
- 2 Was it painted at least 4–6 weeks ago? Fresh paint needs time to cure before anything sticks to it properly.
- 3 Is it an ordinary wall paint? Washable, scrubbable and stain-resistant paints are made to repel things, adhesive included.
- 4 Is it a dry room, not a bathroom? Steam and big temperature changes loosen the adhesive over time.
- 5 Is it a wall, not a ceiling?

Prepare
Wash the wall with mild soap and let it dry for 24 hours. Lay the panels flat in the room for 24 hours too.

Hang panel 1
Draw a straight vertical line 50 cm from the corner. Peel off about a third of the backing, line the panel up and smooth it from the middle out.

Continue edge to edge
Butt each panel against the last one without overlap. You can lift and reposition as you go. Push out air with a soft squeegee and trim with a sharp blade.
Taking it down
On a sound, properly painted wall it generally comes off cleanly. Peel slowly from a top corner, keeping the panel low and close to the wall, and warm it with a hair dryer if it resists.
The paint underneath matters most. Eggshell and satin release most easily. Flat or chalky matte paint, and walls painted only a few weeks before, are where paint can lift. If a little does come away, fill and touch up the spot like any small scuff.
Peel&Stick is made to be hung once. When it is down, it cannot be reused.
Questions about peel and stick
- Can I use peel and stick wallpaper in a rental?
- Yes, it is a popular choice for rentals. Ask your landlord first, check that the wall is smooth and painted with an ordinary (not washable) paint, and when you move out, peel it off slowly and close to the wall. How cleanly it comes off depends mostly on the paint underneath.
- Will peel and stick wallpaper damage my walls?
- On a sound, properly painted wall it generally comes off cleanly. The risk is highest on flat or chalky matte paint, and on walls painted less than 4–6 weeks before hanging, where the adhesive can lift some paint.
- Does it work on textured walls?
- No. The adhesive needs full contact with the wall, so on orange peel, woodchip or rough plaster it will bubble and lift. Choose paste-the-wall instead, ideally after skimming the wall smooth.
- Can I reposition the panels?
- Yes. While you hang them, you can lift a panel and put it back. It is not made to be taken down and hung again once it has settled on the wall.
- Can I use it in a bathroom?
- No. Steam and temperature changes loosen the adhesive over time, so Peel&Stick is not for bathrooms or other rooms with big humidity swings. For a guest WC with just a sink, choose paste-the-wall.
- Does it look the same as your paste-the-wall wallpaper?
- Yes. It is the same matte print as Happy Mattic, and the panels are the same 50 cm width. Only the back is different.
- Is the adhesive included?
- Yes, it is already on the back of every panel. There is no paste to buy or mix.
- How much bigger than my wall should I order?
- Measure the full width and the highest point of the wall, and add 5 cm (2 in) to both. You trim off the excess when you hang it.
- Can I put it on a ceiling?
- No, Peel&Stick is not made for ceilings. Choose paste-the-wall for a ceiling.
- How soon do I need to hang it?
- Within 6 months of delivery. Until then, store the panels flat, somewhere dry and away from heat.
